Wet Tropics Wildlife Immersion

A private afternoon-into-night wildlife adventure through the Wet Tropics, with specialist equipment, local guiding, and encounters most visitors never see.

Your Private Wildlife Immersion: Afternoon to After Dark

Your guide collects you from your door in the afternoon and takes you deep into the Wet Tropics as the rainforest shifts through dusk and into darkness, when the most extraordinary species come alive.

This is a guide-led, fully equipped wildlife experience. We carry the latest spotlighting and optical equipment so you get the best possible sightings and photographs, whether you’re shooting on a phone or a professional setup. Your guide reads the conditions in real time and adapts the route for the best encounters.

Completely private. No mixed groups. No rigid schedule. Your tour, your pace.

What the Adventure Looks Like

We collect you in the afternoon and head for the Atherton Tablelands. First up: secluded freshwater river pools where platypus are regularly active during their late-afternoon feeding sessions. Your guide knows exactly where to position for the best viewing and photographs.

As the light softens, we pause for food and refreshments. Where we stop depends on the day and the conditions. Could be a local Tablelands spot, could be something more atmospheric.

Then the real magic starts. As darkness falls, your guide switches to specialist spotlighting equipment. Night-time rainforest drives through habitat where Lumholtz’s tree kangaroos, green ringtail possums, and striped possums emerge. Owls call, frogs chorus, and the rainforest becomes a completely different world. This is ethical, unhurried spotlighting, guided by experience, not chasing.

We negotiate a pickup time that works for you. Return time depends on what the night delivers, but expect to be out until around 9:30 PM.

What Our Guests Say

Real reviews from real guests.

My friend and I recently did this fabulous tour to Kuranda Village with Dave. I'm in my late sixties with mobility problems and my friend is in her mid-seventies. We desperately wanted to see Kuranda Village though but needed and wanted a shorter tour that gave us a more personable experience, and we certainly got that with Dave! Dave was such an exceptional and knowledgeable host and we highly recommend him. He was on time, reasonably priced, provided very comfortable transport as well as great, informative commentary throughout the tour which really gave us a much better understanding of Kuranda Village and it's surrounds and people. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience, but what really impressed us the most was that Dave truly looked after us. Due to our ages and my disability having that reassuring support and care meant a great deal to us.
