What the Adventure Looks Like

We collect you from the Yorkeys Knob Cruise Tender Terminal and head straight up through the Barron Gorge. The road alone is worth it, with rainforest pressing in from both sides and the gorge opening below you.

First stop is the Barron Falls lookout. In the wet season the falls are running hard and the gorge is spectacular. We time it so you have the lookout at its best.

From there, into Kuranda village. The Original Markets are in full swing. Local art, food, music, and genuine rainforest character. You have time to actually wander.

Next, you choose Koala Gardens or the Barron River cruise. Koala Gardens is koalas, wombats, quokkas, bilbies, freshwater crocs, and a koala patting photo. The river cruise is a gentle drift through the rainforest canopy from the water. Either one rounds the day out beautifully.

Then we stop at Rainforestation for the Pamagirri Aboriginal dance performance. A genuinely moving way to close the day before we get you back at the tender before your deadline.

Your Day in Port

Barron Falls Lookout

One of the most spectacular waterfall views in Far North Queensland. We time it so you arrive before the crowds. In the wet season the gorge is running at full volume. One of those places that stops people mid-sentence.

Kuranda Village & Original Markets

The heart of the day. The Original Markets are the real Kuranda. Local makers, rainforest food, live music. You have time to wander properly at your own pace.

Koala Gardens (optional)

Koalas, wombats, quokkas, bilbies and freshwater crocodiles in a beautifully kept rainforest park. Includes the koala patting photo with digital download. A genuine hands-on experience, not a production line.

Pamagirri Aboriginal Dance Show

A cultural performance at Rainforestation Nature Park before we head back to the tender. Authentic, moving, and a genuinely different way to close a day in the Wet Tropics.

Is This Tour Right for You?

  • Your ship is calling at Yorkeys Knob and you want more than a shuttle to the village
  • You have 6 hours and want to spend them well, not waiting on a bus schedule
  • Small group, travelling with family or friends, not strangers
  • You want a local who knows exactly how much time you have and won’t cut it fine
  • First-time visitors who want the real Kuranda, not the brochure version

What Our Guests Say

Real reviews from real guests.

My friend and I recently did this fabulous tour to Kuranda Village with Dave. I'm in my late sixties with mobility problems and my friend is in her mid-seventies. We desperately wanted to see Kuranda Village though but needed and wanted a shorter tour that gave us a more personable experience, and we certainly got that with Dave! Dave was such an exceptional and knowledgeable host and we highly recommend him. He was on time, reasonably priced, provided very comfortable transport as well as great, informative commentary throughout the tour which really gave us a much better understanding of Kuranda Village and it's surrounds and people. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience, but what really impressed us the most was that Dave truly looked after us. Due to our ages and my disability having that reassuring support and care meant a great deal to us.
