I grew up in Dublin with birds in the house. Finches, canaries, whatever my older brother was keeping in the aviary out the back. Bull Island on the Northside was my patch - a kid with binoculars and a lot of questions. That curiosity went quiet for decades while life happened. Then I moved to Kuranda.

Living here rewires you. The calls start before dawn, the canopy moves with things you can't always see, and the people who know this forest - the guides, the botanists, the birders who've spent twenty years here - they're generous with their knowledge if you show up curious. I did.

On specialist tours - birding, botany, nocturnal wildlife - I am the driver and logistics. Clayton or Les are beside me doing what they do best, and they are genuinely among the best in the Wet Tropics. On a Kuranda day tour, I am your guide.
